The CEO took to Weibo, the Chinese social networking platform to reveal this news along with other news related to the brand’s product line strategy between the Mi and the Redmi smartphone series. But other than that, he also said that the company didn’t had any plans for the new Max and Note series this year. It means that there won’t be any smartphones succeeding these two series of phones from Xiaomi in 2019. Jun explained that the Xiaomi/ Mi branded smartphones explores the black technology and it will continue to focus on the high-performance models incorporating the latest tech innovations. The Mi branded smartphones were focused on the high-end retail market like the Mi 9, Mi 9SE, Mi MIX series and the upcoming Mi CC series of smartphones. However, on the other hand, the Redmi branded smartphones will deliver the high-quality and cost-effective smartphones with the focus on e-commerce market. In other words, the Redmi branded smartphones offered essential features and come at an affordable price point. According to the Xiaomi CEO, the Redmi brand currently has six smartphones– the Redmi 7A, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro. All these smartphones are the newly launched smartphones in 2019.
Xiaomi’s Mi Max branded smartphones are known for their big and bright displays with a large battery while the Mi Note series of smartphones were the mid-range phones in the brand. And there is a possibility that the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro could take the place of the Mi Note-series this year but there is no alternative released by Xiaomi for its Mi Max-series smartphones. But it should also be noted that the company hasn’t officially discontinued both the smartphone series as they are just discontinued for 2019. There is a possibility that the company has something else in mind for these two smartphone series. And there is a chance that the company might release some new alternatives for the Mi Max and the Mi Note series of smartphones next year.
