According to a tip from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is introducing new sketching capabilities to its Android app. In a future version, the instant messaging app is expected to offer additional pencils for drawing on pictures and videos. Sadly, these new sketching tools are still under development, and no release date for beta testers has been set. Keep an eye on our upcoming changelog to find out when they’ll be released. As of now WhatsApp only offers one pencil with which to sketch, but it will soon receive two more pencils, one thinner and one thicker than the current one, the report stated. “The changes are under development, but we can give you a good preview of what will happen after installing a future update: WhatsApp is planning to add new different pencils to draw on your images and videos!”, the report says.
There are two new pencils added (making a total of three) as seen in the screenshot, but there are more in the works. The ability to blur images was already stated in WhatsApp for Android and iOS, and WhatsApp is now working on implementing support for this new feature in a future release of WhatsApp beta for Android. Apart from this, the WhatsApp desktop app will get a new dark blue colour that will only be seen if the dark theme option is turned on. The platform has updated the colour for chat bubbles when you use the dark theme. WhatsApp is also testing a new information page for emoji message answers and new notification settings for message reactions.
