It is worth mentioning that a security bulletin that has been rolled out by Samsung says that the April 2019 Security Maintenance Release for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphone comes with five critical fixes for fifteen issues that varied in terms of severities. One among the critical fix that will be a part of the update is a patch for the remote attacker’s ability to execute arbitrary code on the handset being used by the target with the help of a specially crafted file. The news of the update first surfaced on SamMobile and it says that users in Netherlands Germany, Russia, Italy and some other countries have started receiving the update on their smartphones. It is being speculated that the update on Samsung Galaxy Note is being rolled out in a phased manner and it will take a while for it to reach all the users. If you want to install the update manually, head to ‘Settings’, then go to ‘Software Update’ and press on ‘Download and Install’.
Other than this, the website has also published the Galaxy Note 8 firmware. So users who cannot wait to get the latest update can flash it manually if they feel confident about it. We must add that the security bulletin has also mentioned that the fixes that are related to the ‘Emergency Mode’ are also included in the latest update. The April 2019 Security Maintenance Release is posted on Samsung’s official website. To recall, last week Google rolled out the April 2019 Android Security Patch for Pixel smartphones. And the South Korean technology giant has been very quick in updating Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s security hardware. Other flagship smartphones by Samsung are also expected to get it soon.
