The MIUI 11 broke the monotony of an MIUI 10 users life when it was launched with its unique features. These features include but are not limited to, a redesigned interactive user interface, an always on display, great personalisation tech and many unique features. MIUI 11 also brought in the Gaming toolbox 2.0, which allowed gamers to play uninterrupted by notifications. Another feature brought in was the tracker that allows women to keep a track of their menstrual cycles, alongside other health features like step tracking, distance walked, calories burnt etc. This is a good feature for fitness enthusiasts, if you ask us and many of Redmi’s competition phones do not have it. Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A belonging to Xiaomi’s second batch and older phones in the third batch (Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 6, and Redmi 6A) have now begun receiving the updates to upgrade to MIUI 11. Mi Forums are currently filled with user posts talking about the MIUI 11 update on Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A. The Redmi 5 is updated to the version number MIUI 11.0.1.0.ODAMIXM, while the Redmi 5A update has the version number MIUI 11.0.2.0.OCKMIXM. The MIUI 11 updated Operating System features an innovative minimalistic design, vibrant sound effects and an updated Mi File Manager app. Along with these features, this update also brings a Steps Tracker, Wallpaper Carousel and even a Floating Calculator. There’s also a fresh Mi Share file transfer tool and Mi Doc Viewer. As mentioned, the updates for both the smartphones bring the latest October Android security patch. This is probably the first time a Redmi user is going to get a security patch as soon as it was let out by Google. If you use the Redmi 5 or Redmi 5A phone, you can check for the update’s availability by going on to Settings > About phone > System update. It might take a few tries before the system recognises that an OTA update has been pushed out by Xiaomi. It is being sent in a scattered manner, so you might get it in the next couple of days.
