In order to create this ‘Hand Wash’ app for the Galaxy Watch, Samsung Research Institute-Bangalore’s UX and wearable teams worked remotely round-the-clock over the last two weeks in order to come up with a solution that helps the users keep healthy and safe. “The ‘Hand Wash’ app on Galaxy Watch helps users maintain hand hygiene by periodically reminding them about it and ensuring each wash is thorough for the duration of 20 seconds in line with WHO recommended best practices,” as revealed by official Samsung blog post. The ‘Hand Wash’ app for Samsung Galaxy Watch, which comes with pre-set reminders which users can customize further based on their needs and schedule, tracks the time and provides users with haptic feedback after 25 seconds of wash cycle. According to the tech giant, “Five seconds are for turning on the tap and applying soap, while 20 seconds are for actual hand wash.” Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Watch ‘Hand Wash’ app also notifies users if they miss any of scheduled pit stops to the wash basin! Besides this, the ‘Hand Wash’ app also showcases an elegant watch face that allows users to intuitively track their daily wash routine as it reveals the elapsed time since last wash to give users a sense of alertness about their hygiene in real time. The ‘Hand Wash’ app can be downloaded by Samsung Galaxy Watch users through the Galaxy Store. Meanwhile, Samsung India teams have engaged with various governments, local authorities, and healthcare professionals to prepare a broad and meaningful strategy in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The tech giant has announced measures to support local administration and community in Noida, by equipping hospitals with medical equipment required in the preventive drive against the pandemic. In the continuous endeavour to support the fight against Covid-19, Samsung also pledged a contribution of Rs 20 crore to the Union and State governments in India. While Samsung will be donating Rs 15 crore to the PM Cares Fund, it will be giving out Rs 5 crore to Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to support India’s fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.
