Seamless indoor coverage has been a key ask from mobile customers but getting permissions for site installations has always been a big challenge for mobile operators, particularly in top metros. ‘Airtel Wi-Fi Calling’ is another pioneering technology intervention from Airtel and will go a long way in making the voice calling experience more seamless.” From today onwards the Airtel smartphone users will be able to experience better signal quality indoors with Wi-Fi at home or office. The subscribers are not required to download any app to the service. Initially, the company has launched the service in Delhi NCR for its customers and will be progressively rolling out the voice-over Wi-Fi service in the other parts of the country. The telecommunication company says that for using this service the Airtel subscribers will not be charged extra. They are allowed to make a free call over ‘Airtel Wi-Fi Calling and the application consumes minimal data. According to the company currently, not all the phones will be supporting Airtel’s voice over Wi-Fi service. The company says all the Apple iPhone series starting 6s and above, Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi K20, Redmi K20 Pro, POCO F1, Samsung Galaxy J6, A10s, On6, M30s and all the models of OnePlus 7 series will be supporting Airtel Wi-Fi Calling service. The company has promised that it is working all leading smartphone brands to roll out compatibility with Airtel Wi-Fi Calling. This service is compatible with Airtel Xstream Fiber home broadband and will soon be compatible with all broadband services and Wi-Fi hotspots.
